Before You Go

Visiting one of the larger Craft Fairs can be a great day out for all the family but there are a few things you can do and check before you go.

What is the venue and is anything else available there.

If you visit one of the larger shows it is often associated with a venue which may have other facilities (Woburn Safari Park, Chatsworth House, Sandringham, Knebworth just to name a few). You may want to check what other facilities wil be available during your visit and also if these are included in the one entrence charge or if you will have to pay extra.

What are the food facilities?

Sometimes the Craft Fair organiser will have a food marquee where you can by hot and cold food and drinks or there will be food "vans" spotted around the area. Both of theseoptions can be a bit expensive at times although it's nice to see the variety of foods and vegeterian options seem to be getting better.

Other than food provided by the organiser there is often food facilities at the venue itself, normally in the form of a cafe. You can ofcourse avoind all of this if you pack yourslf a nice picnic lunch.

Entertainment.

Whilst people mainly go to craft fairs for the crafts entertaiments can provide a useful extra especially if you have children with you. Ofcourse some of the best entertainment at a craft fair can be displays of some of the various types of crafts. Often you will see wood turners, blacksmiths, silk painters, glass blowers and all sorts of crafers demonstrating their skills.

Other entertainments at show can depend on the venue, the amount of space available and the policy of the individual organisers. Some shows will have a central ring with various displays in which are closely associated with the country / crafts, this may include ferret racing (don't ask!) , falconry displays, shire horses etc. If you are particulaly interested what additional entertainment may be available at a show then you should contact the organiser direct or visit their website for further information.
